Molybdenum is what separates grade 316 from standard austenitic bar. At 2–3% concentration, it resists the chloride pitting and crevice corrosion that destroys 304 in marine and chemical environments. The composition has 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 0.08% carbon maximum, giving the bar reliable structural performance in acidic process streams and saline atmospheres. Types of SS 316 Bars
